2023 Norwegian Scientists in the world’s 2% list

The updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators was published recently, which provides two rankings. One, ranking based on all publication years, and second, ranking based on a particular year, whcih is 2023 is the latest one.

In the ranking considering all publication years, 1397 Norwegian scientists have earned a place among the world’s top 2% of researchers. I am not listed in this list. This list recognizes their outstanding contributions across diverse fields, including institutions like Handelshøyskolen BI, NTNU, Folkehelseinstituttet, and the University of Oslo. The ranking takes into account the number of published papers, years of active research, and a composite score that excludes self-citations, highlighting the global impact of Norwegian scholarship. From pioneers with decades of work to those still shaping the future, these scientists stand as leaders in their respective fields.

In the ranking based on only the year 2023, 1250 researchers from Norwegin institutions have earned a spot in the world’s top 2%, based on composite scores that exclude self-citations. The majority were from Universitetet i Oslo (272 scholars), Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet (224 scholars), and Universitetet i Bergen (11 scholars). This focus on recent output showcases the continuing innovation and influence of Norwegian researchers in the global scientific community. I am listed 158 in this list among Norwegian scholars and 26708 among all scholars worldwide. In my main research sub-field Logistics & Transportation, I am ranked 68 in the world out of 28891 scholars.
